Oopsies

In the previous days, I've actually forgotten that I've had a blog actually. I actually just remembered maybe yesterday, so i figure i'll write about something really awesome ba bawesome. So... I've been sitting here for 10 minutes now and can't think of anything, so I'll share a Czech fairytale with you that i learned yesterday. (Seeing as it's almost Christmas and fairytales are a strong part of it, and since I love winter and this time of year, I'll share what I know). This is the story of "The Princess with Golden Hair".
In this story is a beautiful princess and a prince who loves her dearly, but the problem is that there is a big bad magician who hates many things and also the princess so she is locked up in the castle by the evil magician. But luckily there are threee beautiful guys that are willing to help. And each one of them have a special power. And so they helped the prince free her. These men kinda looked after her in a way I think. But anyways, the princess would seem to always disappear and the man with perfect sight would find her, then there's a guy with really long legs "went to her" (not sure why that's important", and the last guy was really fat or something and he did something also, but i don't know."

Funny story and i'm sure it'd be better if I actually knew anything about it. But I don't. A friend just told me really quick in passing about the story. Anyways, that's what I got for you now.

Customer Service to a Tee

So, the other day I went to the main bus station at Florenc to purchase bus tickets to Bratislava for next weekend. I get there about 550pm about 10 minutes before they close and I feel like I have no problems in the world. I'm happy, the world is at my fingertips and life is treating me great. I just won the 50 million dollar lotto and i just finished buying my first country.

So, I'm ready to anything. I'm next in line and I'm about to pounce like a tiger. The man calls for the next customer and I run up there with a smile on my face which surely has penetrated the entire bus station by now and smiles can be see all around. I look at the guy and am thinking, wow, I should be nice to him and not just start speaking English. That's what trashy tourists do who think that everyone should automatically know English. So i happily ask him "Mluvite anglicky?" (Do you speak English?) And he looks at me with the face of death. Suddenly everythhing around me turned black as night and there was no one in the bus station anymore more. No soounds, nothing. Just me and him. Horns started growing out of his head as he said (picture this...) in the most disgusted, most tired, most dull and monotonic, most annoyed voice. In the voice of a semi-robot (got the picture). And he responded with a long and drawn out "I hope so".

Hope you got the picture. Then I reached over and touched his arm and said.. "TAG, you're it." And ran away laughing gleefully

My Michael Jordan Birthday

So... thanks to everyone who welcomed me on my coming of age. The age of something awesome... I've been looking forward to my Michael Jordan birthday since I was just a wee lad. It was quite nice. Throughout the day I'd get emails or classes would sing happy birthday, students would congratulate me throughout the day, or I would just get nice surprises. It was like I was the king of the world or something. Very nice actually. But nevertheless, school life must go on and on Thrusday it is maybe one of my longest days, so i had to dwell through it. But it really wasn't a bad day. Better than most Thursdays. And at the end of the day, one of my good friends gave me a beautiful present. Below is a picture of it. It was a poster of memories of friends that I have acquired over the past 2 years of being here and funny moments we've had. So it was really a fun thing to get. Hands down.

It's funny, even Benji wished me a happy bday.... ok, well maybe he didn't, but it was a fun day and I'm happy these days happen. And the celebration will continue until christmas I believe just because that's how we have fun out here in Kralupy, so if you're ever around, come on and we'll celebrate and celebrate.

Lot of things in the future:
- This isn't the future, but it was interesting. I had a conversation with my principal (the princiPAL is your "pal") about his trip to Patagonia that he just returned from last week that was awesome. And I talked to him about starting up a meeting of Christians in the school to get together and have fellowship. So hopefully that'll go well.
- Tomorrow all us English teachers in Kralupy are celelbrating more of my birthday and our ex-cabinetmate Zdenek has returned for a few days, so we all have to meet and make it like the good ol' days
- Next weekend we have Fall Break and me and Joseph are going to Bratislava to see some friends... so therefore, that'll be awesome.
- Thanksgiving isn't in 3 weeks, but our ESI Thanksgiving Retreat is in 3 weeks, so tha'll be awesome also, don't know anything about it, but I'll keep you posted, I'm sure you're just as excited as I.
- My boy Adrian Peterson is rockin up the NFL. That's a bit of fun also

Anything else I should include? not at the moment. Things are busy and I know I have about a million things to write about, but it's just not happening now. Sorry.

Vacuums Galore

Today has been a very beautiful day thusfar. Life is happy and enjoyable because today is Friday and yet again, I'm not working. I've got nothing to complain about. And also, I've met a few more foreigners that live in my town. They've lived here for about as long as I have, but I've just never run across them. And today was the day. They're nice. That's really all I can say about them.

But the real reason for happiness today is that I have just returned from mthe local home appliance store right around the corner from my school and I purchased for myself my very first vacuum. Now, after two years of not having a vacuum, you might think that my place is rather dirty, but you would be wrong, because I always have borrowed the school vacuum which is nice, but we don't do it much, cuz it's a bit of a hassle. And also i think i broke it the last time before i came to america last summer and never told the school. So i figure it'd be better if I just finally buy my own and I can use it whenever I want and everything will be very happy.

This beautiful vacuum is called an Elf and it was quite nice I think, and cheap. It put me back less than a hundred bucks and the dude that owns the shop told me that he has had the same one for a few weeks I think. So i gave in and shelled out the dough for a nice little treasure inside a sucking box ;)

Nowhere to Hide

So... as the weekend would hold for me, i visited the local cinema... oh yea, before this, I have a funny story. I was at this bar with a friend one of my now "good friends" Apparently I've made friends with the czech waiter that's there. He's probably without a doubt the nicest guy and genuinely firendliest guy I've ever met in the Czech Republic. He always has a smile on his face and always wants to talk to me. It's really funny. And he thinks that I can understand Czech completely, which is also funny cuz he speaks really fast. So... anyways, the funny thing is that we were talking and then this motorcycle goes by and he starts talking to me about america and the temperature and all that and then he starts talking to me about Step by Step. Now, if you can think of one of the most unlikely places where you would have a conversation about Step by Step, maybe I think that at a strange pub by some strange 30-something year old Czech dude is probably up there as one of the most unlikely of places. So that's my story and I'm gonna stick to it. And then he proceeded to talk about European 20th c. history and about France and Switzerland and Germany, and Nazis and how strong the czech currency was and blah blah blah, and then as I walked out, he told me to not forget to tell my friends in America about this... first i'm not really 100% sure what he was talking about, so all i can tell you is just what I wrote. Something about guns also.

And then after this I had alone time and went to the movie theater to see Oceans 13 (or as Czechs call it "Danny Part 3"). It was really sweet and i liked it a lot. Reallly awesome and totally worth seeing. I'd have to say that the Ocean trilogy is a really high quality trilogy. Although maybe this one was a bit more predictable, but only a bit. That's all i got to say for now. hope all is good. take care.
